The Bottled water industry promotes an image of purity, but
testing by the Environmental Working Group reveals a
surprising array of chemical contaminants in every
bottled water brand analyzed, including toxic byproducts
of chlorination in Walmart Sam's choice
and Giant Supermarket's Acadia brands, with the same levels
routinely found in tap water. Several bottled water
contaminants, some cancer-causing exceeded legal limits for
bottled water contaminants in California. Standards
established by the bottled water industry. These test
indicate that the purity of bottled water cannot be trusted.
46 million in U.S. have drugs in drinking water!
Testing reveals trace amounts of
pharmaceuticals in 46 million Americans drinking water. The overwhelming
majority of U.S. cities have not tested drinking water while eight
cities including Boston, Phoenix and
Seattle were relieved that tests
showed no detections. Chicago, for
example, found a cholesterol medication
and a nicotine
derivative. Many cities found the anti-convulsant
carbamazepine. Officials in one of those
communities, Colorado Springs, say they detected five pharmaceuticals in
all, including a tranquilizer and a
hormone. The drug residues detected in
water supplies are generally flushed
into sewers and waterways
through human excretion.
People take pills. Their bodies absorb
some of the medication, but the rest of
it passes through and is flushed down
the toilet. A vast array of
pharmaceuticals, including antibiotics,
anti-convulsants, mood stabilizers
and sex hormones, have been found in the
drinking water supplies of at
least 46 million Americans.

While the comprehensive risks are still
